What Claire Brings
Expertise across the design, implementation, and evaluation of road safety policy and programs
Her work spans:
Leading long-term trauma reduction targets by building belief, strengthening the case for change, and driving the actions to deliver them
Automated speed enforcement and speed management, including program design, implementation, and stakeholder management
Evaluation of road safety programs and strategic policy initiatives to inform decision-making and strengthen outcomes
Road safety management and leadership, including leading national work with Austroads and contributing to the facilitation of the Monash University Accident Research Centre’s internationally recognised Road Safety Management Leadership Program, focused on translating evidence into practice
Designing and reviewing governance frameworks to enable effective decision-making and the implementation of complex, multi-stakeholder transport safety action plans
Drafting government submissions on road safety and regulatory reform, bridging public policy with industry perspectives to shape regulatory outcomes
Applying behavioural science and systems thinking to road safety, including defining behaviour change problems to improve how people interact with the road system
Leading the development of local government road safety strategies and programs, drawing on direct experience within local government
“CoRoad safety doesn’t lack evidence.
We already know what works in road safety.
What’s missing is the ability to translate that evidence into action. To influence decisions, align stakeholders, and implement what’s required to achieve meaningful outcomes.
This is where many efforts fall short.
Over 25 years working across senior government roles, national legislation, and industry, I’ve seen where strong policy intent breaks down and what it takes to carry it through.
My work focuses on bridging that gap.
Supporting leaders to move from evidence to action,
and from intention to implementation.
Because in road safety, what we know only matters if it’s outcome was even better than we imagined.
